Snow has been falling in some parts of the country. The "white" gold is about to take over powerkiting activities for many of us. The all-new Montana V is about to be released. HQ expects their first batch around mid November, just in time for this years snowkite season.

Designer Tom Bourdeau has worked his magic again. With general performance improvments such as increased depower, quicker turning speed and increased flying speed, the brand-new molded chicken loop is what people will notice first. Tom intentionally constructed the canopy without stiff mylar laminate sail cloth in order to better absorb gusts for greater stability.

Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to teach a couple beginner Kiters how to fly a dual line sport kite. It was a refreshing experience because much of my time flying always seems to involve a quad line kite of some sort. The two newbies were flying two different sport kites. one was a HQ Salsa and the other was a HQ Bolero. I was really impressed by the way these two kites had flown. They Tracked well and responded even better. They were also priced reasonably. These Sport kites definely receive two thumbs up from me.

Hello All,

Kites In RI is on the HUNT! The Hunt for Prime Kiting locations in and around Rhode Island. When most people think about kiting in RI; Newport comes to mind; and then they remember hearing about Brenton Point State Park.

Brenton Point State Park is a Fantastic place to Fly...... In the off season(in my opinion). For Newbies trying to learn how to fly any type of sport kites Brenton Point State Park in the peak of the season is not an ideal location. You have to many people trying to fly in such a small area. Scarborough State Beach In Narragansett has a wide open field that they use for parking during the summer months that becomes available after 4pm. In the off season its available all day.

So the Hunt is on. If you know of any prime kiting locations please let us know. We'll check it out and do a write up on it.

What a wonderful experience it was to be at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival Family Street Fair in New York city.
The day started off a little cloudy put the sun did shine through as the day progressed. It was really cool seeing kites being flown in the streets of New York city; who would have thought that it was possible to fly a kite amongst thousands of people with giant buildings towering overhead. My visit to New York was short but sweet.
Thanks to my sister Indira, and and my uncle Lee, for all your help that day! Also big thanks to Team Weider for all your help and the invite.

I guess the first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem . I AM A WIND JUNKIE ! I Love the wind and the relationship that we have; sometimes its love and sometimes its hate. I would have to say its more love than hate. Here is a pic of a Vented Revoluton 1.5 SLE fully loaded up. It was blowing 22 mph and cold this day and the wind was definitely tossing me around a little bit. This photo was taken by my wife and I would have to say she has an incredible eye.

My bag

This is my bag; its actually the first kite bag I've ever owned. I bought it back in 1995 and at that time I only had one kite to fill it. It was my first real dual line stunt kite. It was a bright pink Prism Ion. I wish i had it today. I sold it after a few months and bought a Prism Fanatic which to this day is still one of my favorite kites. I will attempt to show you whats in my bag; hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have a photo catalog of every kite I own.(From my personal collection that is)

Sharing the love of kiting is an important role for a seasoned flyer. I've had the opportunity to share my love of kites with a few people. And without fail the joy on a new flyers face when they get the kite up in the air and are able to keep it there is Priceless.
